Beside their senic beauty the Rift valley lakes of Oromia were also famed by their great potential of thermo mineral waters and curative hot springs.

These terminal springs are confined with in the radius of some 200 to 250 km south east of the capital -Addis. The water of these hot springs bubbles at deferent corners with high discharging  power having a temperature reaching up to 90°c with high chloride, salphate and carbonate contents, their water-forming vapor of clouds and flows down to the lake.

Local people living around these lakes use this water for drinking, cooking and ailment from different disease and in same locality youngster may roast fresh fishes and grains.

Having a paramount tourism potential, on these thermo mineral spas yet there is no private or Governmental Organization who take part in any kind of spa development facilities-as result these potential spa’s require aggressive investment’s.

Sodare Spa

It is situate some 127 Km. East of the capital Addis and 27km south of Adama town. Sodare spa is one of the most developed and popular weekend thermal resort recreation in the country (Ethiopia) and the Oromia Region as well. The water of Sodare spa bubbles out of the foot of hills near the left bank of Awash River in the locality of Abadir and flows like a stream down to Awash River. Its water has a clear appearance with a temperature varying between 42°c --62°c having a mineral contents of sodium and carbonates with moderate of sulfates and chloride. Hence Sodare spa is highly recommended for the treatment of rheumantisms, skin disease, locomotion disorders, muscular problems and tendons.

Sodare spa has an easy and comfortable access. Visitors can have hot baths (shower) in rooms, open air and sauna bath in a well standard resort Hotel. There is also an Olympic size Swimming pool at the site.The near by proposed park of Dilfeqar, the Awash River and its ever green Rivera with aquatic bird species and fauna add a beauty to these spa.

Bokku Geothermal Steam

 

It is a popular natural steam frequented by hundreds and thousands of patients for different diseases. Bokku is located about 7km. South of Adama town and 107km east of the capital Addis. Bokku steam gushes out from the walls of a rock on the slope of gorgeous land, where in small rooms with low standard patients take a steam treatment to heal from rheumatism, cold, Asthma and many other complicated skin and muscular problems. Bokku steam having a healing power requires great improvement and investment. A competent investor can change these natural potential in to center of health tourism, and recreational site for steam therapy and can attract visitors and patients both locally and world wide.

Gergadi Hot Spring

Geragady Hot spring is situated in the central eastern part of the Rift Valley some 14km south west of Adama and 114 km from the capital Addis. Only a 12km southwest drive along a dusty road lead one to a small but very hot industrial (Sugar cane factory) village of wonji.Gergady is only 5km from this village on a plain between a hill and at northeast of Awash River. Where a number of thermal springs gush out of the earth at 4 different spots with very high discharging power covering the area with flood forming a natural basin. It is common to see local people bathing in this natural basin for healing or physical ailment.

These four(4) springs together discharge more than 400 liters of water per second and flows down to Awash River. The water of Geragadi has temperature of 52°c. Like Boku Geothermal Geragadi also require an investment and has tremendous potential for balneotheraphy services. Geragadi has an altitude of 1500-1800 A.S.L with annual temperature of 27.6°c. The area of Gergadi is surrounded by a number of tourist attractions with in ardors of 100km one of the eye catching attractions of he area is Lake Zuway. There are also other like Dhere Filfeqar proposed sanctuary, Wonji cane plantation etc. Boating and canoeing on the Awash River, birds and crocodiles watching add the beauty to these hot springs.

Wallame Hot Spring

 

Geographically Wallame is found 30 400 - 60200N latitude 360 42 latitude 360 42 - 410 35 E longitude with in an altitudinal range of 1380 - 3250 M.A.S.L, at north Western tip of Borena zone in Galana Abaya district in the locality of Guwangwa.

The vigorous torrent of Wallame hot spring has a temperature of more than 850c with a high discharging power. Its water bubbles out of Gambela hill and flows down to the near by river of Legedar through out the year.

Like all other hot springs in the region the local people use thisthese hot spring for different purposes including drinking and cooking of foods and medicinal ailment.

Awash Palm Spring

Awash natural palm spring is found at a distance of some 225km south of the capital Addis with in the compound of the prominent National park of the country. ( Awash ).

At a distance of 30km north of the park's Head Quarter one can come across the oasis of a moderate chloride and high bicarbonate thermal hot springs of the Awash. Its water is clear blue and surrounded by dooms of palms with a moderate temperature of 42°c.

Additional attractions in the area are-viewing different wild life species and bird life that inhabits the park, the fascinating Awash River fall of Gottu at the camp site and Fantale mountain with its fascinating feature of volcanic origin.

-  Saamallo and Qarsa    - Hot spring in Borena zone.
-  Ketketo - Geothermal - In East Wallaga zone.
-  Qeecho - Hot spring   - In Jimma zone.

These potentials can serve as balneotherapy and other recreational spas resort development.
