Ethiopia

Ethiopia is one of the oldest nations in the world and the second most populous country in Africa. Its major portion lies in the Horn of Africa.

Bordering Ethiopia is the Sudan to the west, Djibouti and Eritrea to the north, Somalia to the east and Kenya to the south. Within Ethiopia is a massive highland complex of mountains and dissected pleatus divided by the Great Rift Valley which runs generally from the south west to northeast and surrounded by low lands, and steeps of semi desert. Some of the highest and most stunning places in the African continent are found here, The country yielded some of the oldest traces of humanity making it an important area of human evolution.

Ethiopia is the 10th largest producer of livestock in the world. Its main export commodities are coffee which emcomposes the largest share, khat, gold, leather products and oil seeds. Recent development of the floriculture is believed to make the country one of the top exporters in the world. The country also has large mineral resources and oil potential.

Politically Ethiopia follows the federal system of governance which divides the country in to nine regional states.

As a tourist appeal, Ethiopia has one of the richest histories on the continent, wealth of nationalities spectrum of culture, famous monuments, unique wildlife, bird species, super panorama of land scape and breath taking vistas.

Oromia

THE GIFTED LAND OF NATURE AND CULTURE

The National Regional State of Oromia is one of the nine Federal states of the Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. It is located in the very heart of the country and its boundary touches all the regional state except Tigray.It also has a common border with Kenya and the Sudan.

Oromia is the largest National State both in terms of population and land area in the country. It is used to have its own traditional and democratic system of self governance known as “Gada System”.

It has an annual rainfall that ranges between 3448mm to 200mm and temperature of 4°c to 35°c annually.  Its altitude also ranges from 500m to 4377m above sea level, with a vegetation of dominantly alpine, canopies of forests in the high lands, wood lands, savannah bush land and shrubs in the low land.

The highest majority of the people of the region are known as the "Oromo” and they are the largest nationality group in the country.

As nature extravagantly endowed with diverse agro-ecological zone the Region has adominant position the country’s Economy.

Blessed with an abundance of cultural and natural assists Oromia is a great tourist destination in the country offering diverse tourist products for visitors.

Afaan Oromoo

It is the most widely spoken Cushitic languages of Ethiopia and a third widely spoken language on Africa. Although, this language is relatively well researched and widely spoken, it is deprived of development as a language in the recent past. However, since 1991 its development is being flourished in all its aspects of language use.

The adopted Latin script named Qubee which nearly is phonetic helped the fast development scored in the past few years. Since then, various written books on oral literature, grammar, dictionary as well as journals were among the many published and distributed.

In academic sphere, the escalating development reached M.A at Addis Ababa University and B.A in some others.  This is really, a commendable achievement.
